Last year we posted about the possibly of flat rate recording fee’s hereWell, now it is official.

On June 23, 2016, Michigan Governor Rick Snyder signed into law Public Act 224 and a series of related public acts that create a flat recording charge system for documents recorded in Michigan.  This is a change from the prior “per-page” calculation for these documents.

Effective October 1, 2016, it will cost $30.00 to record documents in most Michigan counties, regardless of the number of pages.  There is an exception for chartered counties but only Wayne County has adopted a non-standard recording fee in the past.
