E-NOTARY AND REMOTE NOTARY PUBLIC

The Michigan Legislature will be voting on a series of bills in 2018 that if passed will have the effect of allowing both e-Notarization and Remote Notarization in Michigan.  The bills as currently written provide for the full implementation of these programs in mid to late 2019 and requires the Michigan Department of State to work in conjunction with the Department of Technology Management and Budget to implement the new programs in Michigan by selecting and approving electronic notarization platforms.  Until platforms have been approved, a Michigan Notary Public CANNOT perform electronic notarizations as an e-notary or remote notary public.

Notification of the implementation of the program and options available to comply with Michigan’s new laws will be sent to all active Notary Publics.
